Integrations
WhatsApp
Connect your chatbot to WhatsApp so people can chat with it directly in WhatsApp. Aimy links your WhatsApp number as a linked device — you scan a QR code, the same way WhatsApp Web works. No Twilio account or business API setup required. Pro plan only.
Important — please read before connecting. This uses an
unofficial method (a WhatsApp Web linked device),
not the official WhatsApp Business API. By connecting you accept that:
- Using an unofficial integration may violate WhatsApp's Terms of Service.
- Your number could be rate-limited, restricted, or banned by WhatsApp at any time.
- Aimy is not responsible or liable for any account suspension, ban, data loss, or legal consequence from using this feature.
- You are responsible for complying with WhatsApp's policies and applicable law, and for the messages your chatbot sends.
- Use a number you're willing to risk — not your primary personal number.
Before You Start
- A phone with WhatsApp installed and signed in (this is the number your chatbot will reply from).
- A chatbot already created in Aimy with at least one document uploaded.
- A Pro plan (integrations are not available on Basic).
Connecting — Step by Step
- Open Integrations. In the company admin panel, go to Integrations, pick the chatbot you want to connect, and open the WhatsApp section.
- Accept the terms. Read the risk notice and tick the acceptance checkbox. The Start button stays disabled until you do.
- On your phone, open Linked Devices. In WhatsApp, go to Settings → Linked devices (iPhone) or ⋮ Menu → Linked devices (Android).
- Tap "Link a device". Your phone opens the camera to scan a QR code.
- Press Start in Aimy and scan. Click Start — a QR code appears in Aimy. Point your phone's camera at it.
- Wait for "Logging in". After scanning, keep the page open for a few seconds while the connection is established. When it finishes, the status changes to Connected and shows your number.
How It Works
Once connected, any WhatsApp message sent to your linked number is answered by your chatbot from its knowledge base. Each WhatsApp contact gets their own conversation, and the conversations appear in your Chat History. Usage from WhatsApp counts toward your plan, the same as the in-app chat.
Disconnecting
To disconnect, open the WhatsApp section and click Disconnect. This logs the device out on WhatsApp's side and stops the bot from replying. You can re-connect at any time by scanning a fresh QR code. If the number ever keeps replying after a disconnect, press Disconnect again — Aimy will force the linked device off.
WhatsApp integration is Pro-only. One WhatsApp number can be linked to one chatbot at a time. If WhatsApp shows the device under Settings → Linked devices, the connection is active.
